Pictures of the Week

Highlights from the weekly AP photo report, a gallery featuring a mix of front-page photography, the odd image you might have missed and lasting moments our editors think you should see.

This week’s gallery features images of a slum in Rio de Janeiro overlooking fireworks exploding from the Maracana stadium during the opening ceremony of the 2016 Olympics; A dog running through a rainbow formed by the mist of police water cannon during a student protest in Santiago, Chile; Cincinnati Reds’ Scott Schebler getting doused by Homer Bailey after hitting a walk-off three run home run against St. Louis Cardinals relief pitcher Seung Hwan.

This gallery contains photos published July 29-Aug. 5, 2016.

  1. I think it’s bullshit that people can post nude and pornographic pictures and videos the covers over these types of pictures and more. I think this is ridiculous in a good way for cheaters to keep on cheating they say the Hell with you all who use it!
